At AID project location for organic farming undertaken by partner Chetana Vikas, farmers faced an unusual challenge to protect their farms from wild animals. Atmaram, one of the farmers in this program, proved to be a role model in developing a low cost Solar Fence to protect his farm from being damaged by animals and thieves. This solar fence with a small duty cycle prevents any fatal death in humans or animals. Atmaram through his perseverance reduced the cost of solar fence and costs only 1/10th of the commercially available solar fence systems.
The total cost of this low cost fence is $40,000 for 450 acres out of which AID plans to subsidise 75% of the cost.
